North Rhine-Westphalia : Core Health Indicators by District

NRW Institute of Health and Work, Germany

"InstantAtlas is an excellent tool for presenting county-level data in a very concise way with options for interactive analysis. The County Profile contains the key indicators needed to quickly assess the overall health situation in each county. InstantAtlas enables the user to see indicator values for individual counties as well as make county-to-county comparisons and to the state averages. Using InstantAtlas for the presentation of health information will significantly simplify and enhance the use of our indicators." Dr. Wolfgang Hellmeier, Head of Health Indicators Unit, LIGA

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council - Sandwell Trends

This map shows the neighbourhoods (or Lower Super Output Areas), coloured according to the 2009 Mosaic household groups.  Mosaic segments the country's households into fifteen groups (A to O), which can be seen in the map. The spine chart shows the proportion of each group represented within the selected area.  By default the Borough profile is displayed.  Click an area to change the selection. Double-click to open another.

How was this dynamic report created?

The Area Profile Template was used to create the report which combines a single map, table, spine chart and bar chart for data display. Indicators in the spine chart are arranged vertically in a scrollable list. This chart enables at a glance analysis across a range of indicators for a selected area. It makes the comparison of profiles for different areas quick and easy.

Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) Tool

South West Public Health Observatory (SWPHO)

The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) tool aims to help primary care trusts and local authorities jointly identify their areas of need. The Area Profile Template was chosen as there are a large number of indicators to be shown, and trend data is not widely available. In addition, the ability to compare neighbouring areas and select statistically similar areas using the filter option are very useful. Since its launch the JSNA tool has become one of the most viewed pages on the South West Public Health Observatory (SWPHO) website.
