We have provided some recent Area Profiling examples below. They use a number of different InstantAtlas outputs including static profile reports and dynamic reports based on different InstantAtlas Templates. Scale: National (England) Purpose: The Association of Public Health Observatories was commissioned by the UK Department of Health in 2005 to produce Health Profiles. Health Profiles provide a snapshot of health for each local council in England using key health indicators, which enables comparison locally, regionally and over time. Scale: National Purpose: To set-up an Information Bank that highlights the differences in care services for those with Diabetes depending on where in the UK they live. Scale: Local Purpose: Norfolk County Council have used InstantAtlas Server to implement their local Data Observatory called Norfolk Insight. A key capability is the ability to produce a wide range of area profile reports at multiple geographic levels. The reports also link to interactive data views. In most cases their data is held once at the lowest geographic resolution and all reports are generated from this data. Scale: Local Purpose: The initial driver for ‘Stockport Profiling Live’ was the need to support a wide range of area profile reports at different geographic levels from a single data store. These reports had to be available widely across the organisation and, via their secure extranet, to partners. "The value of the application [Stockport Profiling Live] has proved very high for the delivery of dynamic area profiles to replace our paper-based snapshots. It allows us to share data securely amongst our partners and provide detailed socio-economic breakdowns of our communities, both specified in the Audit Commission’s Key Lines of Enquiry. Scale: Regional Purpose: The Health Indicators Unit needed a method to support a way to deliver an interactive report of key health indicators allowing county-level comparisons. "InstantAtlas is an excellent tool for presenting county-level data in a very concise way with options for interactive analysis. The County Profile contains the key indicators needed to quickly assess the overall health situation in each county. InstantAtlas enables the user to see indicator values for individual counties as well as make county-to-county comparisons and to the state averages. National Place Survey | Leicestershire | Neighbourhood Profiling of crime levels |

Scale: Upper and Lower Tier Authorities for England Purpose: Two national reports have been created to disseminate the results of the Place Survey at a national scale. They allow Leicestershire to benchmark themselves against other authorities. Users can rapidly profile specific areas in terms of their survey results against suitable comparators – in this case average values for the respective region and nationally. Indicators have been created from the questionnaire responses and their values are profiled for one or more areas. Filters can be applied to select, for example, similar types of authority, authorities in the same geographic region or the top 10 nearest statistical neighbours.
